Going, going...

The ending of summer is always a little sad. You have to face the music that it can't last forever and say goodbye to longer days, a great tan, swimming, and the excuse to eat way too many hot dogs in one sitting. (Ok, so summer might not be the best excuse for that last one, but I do tend to use it anyway.) One thing I won't miss about summer that I am acutely aware of today in this blissful cool air is the humidity that makes my hair frizz to three times its actual size like Monica's when she visits Barbados.

Yeah, you know the one...

(It's a good thing my only tropical voyage thus far took place in the month of March.)

Another thing that helps me cope with the loss of summer are all the great travel deals in the fall! Fall is a great time to find all kinds of cheap deals and special offers because it is not considered peak season. Rates will drop because most people plan their vacation for the summer months when the weather is warmer and the kids are out of school. But you know what? Fall is a beautiful time of the year to travel, and often times the weather is very cooperative. If it's a little cooler, throw a couple more light sweaters in your suitcase. Most likely the difference in temps between peak season and a month or two later will not be drastic.

I found a couple exciting Fall deals that won't last long, so check them out while they're hot! If you're interested in a little fall getaway, Expedia is offering an extra night FREE to add onto your trip. That means that if you planned just a weekend stay, you can take your time and make it a long weekend at no extra cost! Pretty cool. Highlighted cities are Chicago, Boston, and San Francisco. Go here to check it out and act fast because you can only book the trips through October 13. You can fly through December 15. With prices on rooms that start at 79 buckaroonies a night, I'd say snatch one of these up while you can.

PLEASE let me know if you have any questions about anything. I'd love to help you navigate, plan, or clear up any confusion I may have caused in the first place. :-)  And please tell me all about your trip if you decide to grab one of these deals!

Start Your Engines

Just to give a brief synopsis on this blog to get things started, I want it to become a go-to for traveling advice and ideas.

I'm pretty excited about this venture. Traveling is something that I absolutely love to do, but have found is often limited by time and resources. I hope you'll join me in believing it can be easier than that. My mission is to investigate details for every budget-conscious traveler, share them with you, then set out for adventure. I want to inspire you! I know a lot of young people like me would travel more, but don't think they can afford it or just don't take the time to plan. I want to show you those things are very doable. I'll be learning a lot myself as I study up on different options throughout the planning and go stages. That's what's fun about this for me - we're in this together! And if I have to be your travel guinea pig - to let you know about the go-for-it's as well as the don't-bother's - I'll do it gladly.

For love of travel!
